As Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) kicks its Black Friday promotions and sales in fifth gear for the shopping season, customers are receiving frightening news regarding the possibility of their accounts and passwords being compromised. By pushing big sales and discounts, the e-commerce giant had been planning for months to make this holiday season quarter exciting. However, it may just be on the verge of facing a big problem.
According to a report by ZDNet, Amazon sent out emails to its customers, informing them of the possibility that their accounts were unprotected. We contacted the company for comments and are still waiting for a response. The media as well is waiting for an official announcement on the matter. However, the email informed users that their passwords may have been transferred and/or stored without proper protection, allowing the data to be intercepted by hackers.
