Net neutrality: Why your favourite websites look a little bit different today

Some of the world’s biggest websites are staging a “day of action” on Wednesday in protest of US plans to limit net neutrality.

Facebook, Google, Amazon, Reddit and others are asking users to support the “Battle for the Net”, an effort its supporters say is designed to keep the internet open and equal for all users.

Public figures including Stephen Fry have also joined the protest.
