WhatsApp’s encryption keeps us safe: attacking it is wrong

WhatsApp is under renewed pressure to give security services access to the messaging app’s encrypted communications after last week’s attack in Westminster. Adrian Ajao, the terrorist who killed four people before he was shot outside Parliament last Wednesday, sent a final message via the app just minutes beforehand.

The contents of that message could provide vital information about Ajao’s potential accomplices or collaborators, but WhatsApp has not handed it over.
